Welcome toTreoes Vale Solar Farm
Treoes Vale Solar Farm is a proposed renewable energy development comprising of the construction and operation of a ground mounted solar farm alongside associated infrastructure, with the capacity to generate up to 9.9MW of renewable energy. The proposed development is predominantly situated within the local authority area of the Vale of Glamorgan with part of the cable route (which is to be buried underground), connecting the into the local distribution network, situated within the Bridgend local authority area. Cabling along the highway would be subject to appropriate construction phasing, management and agreement with the highways authority.
Pre-application consultation
Pre-application consultation has now closed. All responses received will be analysed as we refine our proposal ahead of submitting a planning application. A pre-application consultation report will accompany the planning application, which will set out the methods used to consult, the views expressed and how these have been considered in relation to the project.
This website provides further information on the proposal as well as the draft planning application and consultation materials.

supporting net zero targets
The proposal would support the Welsh Government target of 100% of electricity consumption being generated from renewable energy by 2035, ending our reliance on fossil fuels such as coal, oil and natural gas and replacing these with new low carbon energy sources minimising future climate change and its impacts.
The project could produce enough renewable electricity for up to 2,600 homes each year, and offset over 3,800 tonnes of Co2 per year.*

About the project
The site consists of four development areas totalling approximately 41 acres (16.5 hectares), with the area within the red line boundary being circa 46.5 acres (19 hectares). The site is located approximately 2km southeast of Bridgend, 500m to the east of Treoes and 550m to the west is St Marys Hill.
The proposal is at the stage of design development, with environmental and technical work ongoing and engagement with stakeholders commencing. The results of the environmental and technical work as well as feedback received from the pre-application consultation, will help us finalise the design prior to submission of the planning application.
The proposed site location plan below shows the main development area of solar panels and the cable route to connect into the local distribution network.
